Blue Jellyfish (Cyanea lamarckii)
Overview
Blue jellyfish or blue fire jellyfish is found in the pelagic zone off the west coast of Scotland, the North Sea and the Irish Sea. Their distribution overlaps with their kin, Lion’s mane jellyfish (Cyanea capilata). Bell colours of blue jellyfish are blue or violet where Lion’s mane jellyfish has more orange to brownish on their bells. You can almost say they are blue version of Lion’s mane jellyfish but blue jellyfish do not grow as large as Linon’s mane jellyfish.
